I went to meet my cousin yesterday afternoon at a small comedy house in NYC. He’s an aspiring comedian and I got to see him go up in front of several other aspiring stars for an open mic night. He was pretty funny, not hilarious, but no one was. People were pausing to read from their notes and telling jokes where no one laughed. But I told my cousin that all the greats started off this way. If fact, maybe I was biased, but I thought he had the most charisma of them all. Plus, I came up with a story idea. But I’m not going to tell you it because it is so cool.
Just when you thought all the bad movie remakes have been done already, along comes noble Hollywood with a proposed remake of the B-movie classic, Westworld. Can’t wait for that one! (not.)
I am eagerly awaiting the release of Stellastarr*‘s new album, Harmonies for the Haunted. They’re my favorite band right now because, well they just f**king are. They sound a bit like Joy Division meets Morrisey meets Greenday meets your grandmother. I’m also really digging Bloc Party, whose sound is modern and upredictable. It will be curious to see how my recently reserved Greatful Dead album will meld with this mix.
You know what, I think I’m going to head over to Ticketmaster to see if they have any tix for sale from the upcoming local show… Nope none. Oh well.
Wait, they have Stellastar* tickets!!! Just got two!! I’m psyched.

I LOVE Bloc Party. I listen to them every day while I’m writing my YA novel.

How can you diss “Westworld”? The android brothel was the only glimmer of hope in my otherwise bleak adolescence that technology held the key to sexual fulfillment. I so cannot wait to see the biomechanical greed machines we call “women” rendered obsolete by their cybnertic counterparts. “The question of whether a computer can think is no more interesting than the question of whether a submarine can swim.” —Edsger Dijkstra”
