Strange Dream May 13, 2009 – Posted in: Aberrant Normalcy
Had a dream last night I was on a large cargo ship at sea in some kind of civilian fleet. I was with someone, though I can’t recall who, and one of the boat’s crewmembers said something to the effect of, “It’s dangerous out here. Two crew members died last night.” Somehow, this didn’t scare me as much as it should. I looked out at the fleet. There was a storm raging and two dozen boats heaved in a twilit sea. Water sprayed and fell about the boats as if we were inside some great tunnel of water that occasionally broke apart. It looked a lot like those laser-tunnels so pupular in films in the 80s. I also remember the ship’s john. The walls were sky-blue, and there were evergreens. I looked closer and realized this was an illusion painted on the walls to give people the feeling of peace in their favorite reading spot as the storm raged outside.
So, are there any Joseph’s out there? What does this mean?

I’m no expert on these things, but sometimes houses and vessels represent the Self. Water could be emotion. A part of you could be in a bit of denial about a some strong emotions; possibly grief or sadness. (The illusion painted on the wall of the bathroom might represent denial). Or, you may be preparing yourself to weather an upcoming emotional storm. Since you seemed to be unafraid, it seems like there is a part of you that is standing back, observing, from a calmer place. That’s a good indication that you’ll be able to get through whatever is coming up for you emotionally.

That’s an interesting interpretation and probably not far from the truth the more I think about it.
