Field Guide and Out in the Field September 11, 2008 – Posted in: Aberrant Normalcy

I think I’ve had my head in the dirt because I forgot to mention the release of The Field Guide to Surreal Botany, by Two Cranes Press.  There you can read about the “Sembla” (Spasmodica Plasticosa), a morphing plant I discovered while researching the mystical investigations of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and his theory of the Urpflanze, the supposed progenitor of all plants.  This reference book also describes dozens of other eldritch species that may or may not be growing in your mother’s herb garden, waiting to abscond with her down to Hades, or wipe her memories, or cause her to murder her family and friends, or make her dance naked in the woods in by moonlight, or other such wonders.  So you best have the guide to be sure she and your family are safe.

Also — he says non-sequiturly — this Saturday, I will be reading a short story and giving a talk about publishing, writing, and editing, at the Science Fiction Society of Northern New Jersey (SFSNNJ).  The event is at Panera Bread Restaurant, Ramsey Square Shopping Center, 1300 Route 17 North, Ramsey, NJ 07446 from 8-10pm.  I hope you can join me there.  More info here.
