Sybil’s Garage Honorable Mentions October 4, 2007 – Posted in: Altered Fluid, Sybil's Garage

The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror #20It was brought to my attention yesterday that Sybil’s Garage No. 3 was mentioned in The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror #20.

Thanks to Dan Braum for the heads up and Eugene Myers for the text. The entry reads:

“Matt Kressel (et al.) publishes an artful and thoughtful zine, Sybil’s Garage . This year’s highlights included Eric Gregory’s ‘The Redaction of Flight 5766’ and poems by Bobbi Sinha-Morey and Ed Lynskey. Fans of recent small press zines are recommended to subscribe.”

Eugene informs me that, “These were also in the Honorable Mentions, as well as JoSelle Vanderhooft’s poem ‘The Tale of the Desert in the Rain’ from Sybil’s Garage No. 3.

This took me by surprise. I had sent Ellen Datlow and Kelly Link & Gavin Grant a copy, but I didn’t expect that after only four issues we’d have such an impact. I expected it to take much longer. I’m also very excited that not one, but four works were mentioned (one story and three poems). Congratulations to the authors and poets!

However, one thing left me wanting. Please notice the “et al.” (and others). I know they have a lack of space and could not print all the names, but I want everyone to know that it takes more than one person to run our little magazine, and all of these people deserve credit too. Sybil’s Garage wouldn’t be what it is without the help of the following people:
