I Had a Dream November 9, 2005 – Posted in: Aberrant Normalcy

My new Governor. I'm so proud!I had a dream last night that Forrester won for Governor in New Jersey, that Jerry W. Kilgore won Virginia. I was depressed, forlorn, defeated. But, alas, it was all a bad dream. I awoke to discover, that to my surprise, the opposite was true. The Democrats had won, and won big. Corzine took New Jersey, Kaine took Virginia, and even in traditionally Republican Long Island, the Dems took more seats. Is this a precursor to a major upset of Congress in 2006? Are people becoming rational once again, seeing through the spin and the lies of the Republican party? Will cats and dogs live together in harmony? Time shall tell.

In Dover, Pennsylvannia, the Republican school board supporting Intelligent Design was outed in favor of Democrats. However, those pesky Kansians have voted 6-4 to allow ID to be presented in classes in order to cast doubt upon evolution. A Democratic board member said, “This is a sad day. We’re becoming a laughingstock of not only the nation, but of the world, and I hate that.” I would console her by saying, “Kansas has always been the laughing stock of the world.” On my way from Atlanta, Georgia to Steamboat, Colorado, I had the…er…pleasure of driving through Kansas. Pretty much through is all you want to do. Nothing to see here, move on.

(I apoligize to any Kansians who might be reading this blog. I’m sure it’s a nice place to live, once you get over the miles and miles of nothing but grass, the towns with more people in the pit stop than the total population of the town, the glorious tumbleweeds, and the…well, the tornadoes. On my way through I counted the number of trees I passed on one hand.)
