Good News For Coffee Drinkers August 29, 2005 – Posted in: Aberrant Normalcy

Marilyn Drinks Coffee Too!You are going to die. No, just kidding. I said good news. Today’s Wired magazine reports that coffee contains a high amount of antioxidants and people who drink more than six (!) cups a day have a fifty percent less chance of developing diabetes. For about six or eight months now I’ve been drinking good old fashioned tea, which supposedly has lots more antioxidants than all you cuppa-joe freaks. However, I’m sure those extra antioxidants have gone to good use. I’ve been partying like a rock star these past few weeks, with bachelor parties, weddings, festivuses, and tupperware parties. I need to crack down and get healthy again. Fall is good for that. The colder weather prevents me from going outside.

Sybil’s Garage #3 is opening for submissions on September 5, 2005, one week from today. The guidelines have been posted on Ralan for about a month, and they are also available here. We’ve upped the word count to 5000 words because I wanted to fill the magazine with longer stories. As before, we accept all speculative fiction (fantasy, sci-fi, horror, slipstream, etc.). As for what we are looking for, think along the lines of Polyphony, McSweeny’s Thrilling Tales and Astonishing Stories. Think Kelly Link meets H.P. Lovecraft meets Jeffrey Ford. Think none of the above. We have a great selection of first readers who at this time will remain anonymous, but you might like to know that they’ve been published in places like All Star Zeppelin Adventure Stories, The Many Faces of Van Helsing, Abyss & Apex, Ideomancer, & Interzone, among others. Some have been mentioned in the years best anthologies. I say this because I believe it’s nice to know that your story will be read by talented, motivated people, who will give your story the attention it deserves. Please read the guidelines before submitting. 🙂
